Ìpòri in the Yoruba cosmology is one of the elements of the soul; it symbolizes the ancestral energy connected to our head (Orí), to our ancestor (Eledá) and our destiny (Odu). It is the concept that unites people in a global chain. Ìpori relates to the placenta and the origin of life. The performance project relates to water as an element connecting life, fertility, ancestry, the Atlantic crossing and the diaspora.
